Carvinal starts Feb.19th and goes to the 26th.
Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico is a paradise for travelers and those fortunate to call it home. Beaches, islands and mountains surround the city, offering a wonderful playground for adventurous spirits. Old Mazatlan’s busy central market, ornate Cathedral and ocean-side walkways are charming with elegant European influence.
The Mazatlan Awareness Festival is a series of events to build grassroots support networks and develop a sustainable eco-tourism industry that offers exciting opportunities for both tourists and local people.
Through creative workshops and informative conferences, we seek to promote collective community actions and a culture of environmental stewardship. Topics will include: long distance bike trails, community gardens, recycling/ reusing/ composting, plastic in the ocean, green building, and community organization.
Our love of nature will be fostered through activities such as whale watching, kayaking, snorkeling, bicycling tours, mountain climbing, camping, surfing, and bird watching.
Our goal is to create experiences that are culturally rich and creative, luxurious and affordable to all income levels. We are uniting compassionate hearts and inspired minds to create spaces and set times to gather in a magical place... "the land of deer".
We are already sitting in a circle around the world. The "awareness" created through sharing and learning starts here in this facebook group.
Dr. Lorena M. Rios Mendoza at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA has agreed to be the keynote speaker at the Mazatlan Awareness Festival. She was on the research vessel Algalita, that exposed the huge accumulation of plastic in the vortex current between Hawaii and Alaska, which was documented for VBS.tv at: http://www.vbs.tv/shows/toxic/garbage-island/
Aaron Ableman will also grace us with his hip-hop styles spittin' conscious lyrics, planting spiritual seeds in our souls, and the fruit bearing variety in the soil. Check these samples of his sounds and his site: planetexpress.ca/ ![]()
